Resize images

Set an exact size in pixels, scale by percent, or pick a ready made size for Instagram, stories or email. Resize one image or a whole batch.

or drop files here Your files stay on this device. Nothing is uploaded.

How it works

  1. Choose your images or drop them on the box above.
  2. Pick Pixels, Percent or Presets. With Keep proportions on, every image fits inside the size you type without being stretched.
  3. Press Resize, then download each image or all of them in one zip.

Private by design

Resizing happens in your browser, so your images never travel to a server. That also makes it quick, even for a big batch.

Images are scaled down in several careful steps, which keeps edges clean and avoids the jagged look of a single big jump. Photos taken sideways are turned the right way up first.

Picking the right image size in pixels

Different places expect different sizes. Instagram posts look best at 1080 by 1080, stories and reels at 1080 by 1920, and most websites need no more than 1920 pixels wide. For email, 1280 pixels on the longest side is plenty. The presets do this for you, so you do not have to remember the numbers.

When a form asks for an exact size, such as a profile photo of 400 by 400, crop the photo to the right shape first and then resize it. Otherwise the result is either stretched or has a different shape. Keep proportions on, unless you really want an exact width and height.

Resizing makes the pixel size smaller, which also makes the file smaller. If you need a file under a set number of KB, resize first and then use Compress image to fine tune the size. Making an image bigger than it was only works with Allow enlarging, and it will look softer.

Questions

How do I resize many images to the same width?

Choose them all, type the width, and leave the height empty with Keep proportions on. Each image gets that width and keeps its own shape.

What do the Instagram and Story presets do?

They fill the frame exactly, 1080 × 1080 for a square post and 1080 × 1920 for a story, by trimming the edges that don't fit. The middle of the photo is kept.

Can I make a small image bigger?

Yes, tick Allow enlarging. Enlarging can't add detail that isn't there, so the result will look softer. By default images are only made smaller.

Does resizing remove the location from my photos?

Yes. The new files are saved without hidden metadata such as camera details and GPS location.

How do I resize a photo for a passport or ID application?

Check the exact size the form asks for, crop the photo to that shape with Crop image, then type the width and height here.

Can I resize by percent?

Yes. Choose Percent and type for example 50 to make every image half as wide and half as high.

Which format will the resized images have?

They keep their own format by default. You can also choose to save them as JPG, PNG or WebP.
